When it rains it pours

I wrote about this verse a year and a half ago not knowing that I would need to hear those very same words exactly 1 year later.

And it is He Who sends down the rain after they have despaired, and spreads abroad His Mercy. And He is the Supporter, Worthy of all Praise

This past June, I was on the verge of losing hope. I was pregnant with Maryam, who at the time, doctors didn't know if she would survive based on her special condition. I thought it would take a miracle to get me off the boat I was slowly sinking in.

It turns out that miracle did happen, but didn't come in the fashion I expected. The miracle was in fact having Maryam the way she is. I lost hope for a second at one point, but without that feeling of loss, I believe I would not have appreciated what God has gifted me with after.

The verse says that Allah sends rain down after people had lost all hope for it even coming. And at that point, Allah spreads His mercy far and wide. Looking at Maryam today and hearing this verse makes me smile, because to me, she is the definition of Allah spreading His mercy far and wide. Alhamdulillah, all thanks and praise to Him.

When it rains it pours. To read more about this verse when I first wrote about it in June 2014, check it out here in "There is always hope":
